Sargon gave a good overview of what the doctrine is.
New ones are not exposed to the 'other' set of rules until they are baptised for a duration.
After baptism, one should not miss field service every week, has to give talks every three months or so, answer at meetings, study for the five meetings a week, can not do some sexual practices, can't accept blood, celebrate ANY HOLIDAYS.
No sports clubs through school for the kids, the kids can't have non-jw friends from school, nor can they go to pep ralleys or school dances.
the sooner you get her to see the dangers of the WTS, the better chance you have of saving your family.
The spanish congregations are growing faster in the USA than the english speaking ones, but the rules are just the same. And the elders and others will regulate the congregation just the same as well.
Why when I asked my wife's sister about it [JW of course] why did she act as it did not exist.Because we as JW's feel [rather, I felt] that we just followed the bible, that there are no hard and fast rules, when really, there are tons of rules
Why hasn't my wife mentioned the door to door and the logging of hours yet?they may not have pushed it with her yet. But please know this, it is MANDATORY that she does so after she is baptised else she will be labeled as 'INACTIVE' by the elders. A baptised JW must, MUST get hours in EVERY MONTH else the 'INACTIVE' label will be put on her, along with spiritually weak, worldly, etc. If she is weak as a JW and you don't get baptised, then YOU will be villified and used as one of the reasons that your wife is 'spritually weak'.
Right now it seems harmless but something wicked is brewing and I can feel'our familiy unravelling. On the surface all is calm, but deep down there is something eirie behind theri suits and dresses and wide grins.Trust your gut. Pandora's Box is slowly being pried open on your family by the JW's. The sooner you close the box the better
For now Birthday's are still safe, but I'm worried the brainwashing will work.If you are worried, that likely means that you have a gut feeling that the psychobabble that the JW's spew forth may be effective on your wife. Plus her sister is in it, which is makes it more difficult for you. You have good reason to worry.
Is the WT as dangerous as you all say?They DESTROY families. They have destroyed my marriage. They even quote Jesus' words in the Bible to back them up for breaking up families with this Mode of Operation in mind. They feel NO REGRET in breaking up families, having your wife study behind your back, and sneaking her off to conventions without your blessing. They have little respect for husbands who are non-JWs and will put their demands ahead of you and your family's needs.
What do they gain from their control?More members, more money, and then more people going door to door to get even more members. And the high control will ensure that the JW NEVER leaves. If for instance YOU start raising a stink about her studying, they have ALREADY TOLD HER that she will be persucuted even by family members for studying with the JW's So by you trying to protect your wife and start to questioning her as to why she is with the JW's, you end up fulfilling a JW prophesy in her mind that the JW's may be right because now MY OWN HUSBAND is even perecuting me for studing with the JW's just like the JW's predicted. Therefore in her mind she'll conclude even moreso that the JW's 'Have the Truth!' I
obviously am not a JW nor desire to become one, but I will fight to keep my wife from faling into this organization. I need to win her back to keep my family toghetherDamn straight!
Sorry for the rambling but I don't know where to begin to understand their motives and methodsMost don't. It's seems harmless enough on the surface. But once in, it's a real bugger to get out. The JW's are like ticks. It's easy to brush a tick off when it first jumps on your skin. but give them time, and it is next to impossible to get them out without some level of heat or suffocating stradegy. good luck!
